The Wall – A Wilderness Cabin House
Nagpur Forest, Maharashtra, India
Tucked deep within the wilderness of Nagpur’s dense forest, The Wall is a weekend retreat designed to blur the boundary between shelter and sculpture. A monolithic zigzag structure carved in stone, the cabin defies the conventional linearity of residential architecture. Its form is both expressive and elemental, shaped by the natural irregularity of forest lines and inspired by the unpredictable yet organic language of terrain.
The 4.5-meter-high, stone-finished angular wall acts as a continuous architectural spine—organizing space, defining movement, and anchoring privacy. Each chamber turns its gaze toward a different slice of the forest, ensuring isolation without disconnection. As night falls, the dramatic silhouette and scale of the structure serve a protective function—repelling wildlife while allowing occupants to remain immersed in nature.
The project is not merely about building in the forest—it's about responding to it. The wall's abstract geometry mimics the mysterious forms found in nature, inviting curiosity while maintaining visual harmony. This gesture transforms the cabin into a narrative object: a modern-day monolith rooted in context, mystery, and intention.
