Velachery MNC Campus – Spiraling Synergy in the Urban Core
Velachery, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India

Designed as a landmark workplace environment in Chennai’s emerging tech precinct, Velachery MNC Campus spans 6.5 hectares of strategically planned urban land. The architecture draws inspiration from the elegant mathematics of a spirograph, translating rotational geometry into twin circular floor plates, seamlessly connected by a skybridge. The result is a built form that is visually rhythmic, spatially efficient, and functionally flexible.

A core intent behind the design was modularity—offering tenants scalable leasing solutions, whether full floors, individual plates, or connected segments. The centralized core houses essential vertical circulation and utilities, serviced by a centralized AHU system that ensures environmental comfort throughout the structure.

At the ground level, the building engages with the landscape through a flowing arrival forecourt, enhanced by a sculptural water fountain, cascading planters, and shaded walkways defined by vertical wooden fins. A mix of hardscape and softscape interventions create a walkable edge while anchoring the structure to its context. The streetscape strategy includes generous setbacks, layered planting, and permeable surfaces, contributing to both user experience and stormwater management.

The building’s façade is a vertical interplay of glazed curtain walls and concrete fins, creating rhythm and depth while regulating solar gain. Integrated balcony planters soften the massing and bring biophilia into the vertical experience—an architectural detail that echoes the human-centric ethos of the campus.

The material palette embraces an urban-industrial vocabulary: exposed concrete, textured cladding, glass, steel, and natural wood. Together, they create a language of effortless modernity, where function doesn’t sacrifice form.
